World Book Day

Sharing a Love of Reading Across Our Community

To celebrate World Book Day 2026, a group of our fantastic Year 7 students visited several of our partner primary schools to share their enthusiasm for reading and storytelling.

Students spent the day at Whitchurch, Rhiwbina, Coryton, Birchgrove, Gabalfa, Llanishen Fach and Hawthorn Primary Schools, where they read stories, talked about their favourite books and authors, and helped inspire a love of reading among younger pupils. The visits provided a wonderful opportunity for pupils to connect, share ideas and celebrate the joy of books together.

Our students showed great confidence, kindness and maturity throughout the day, acting as excellent ambassadors for Whitchurch High School. It was a pleasure to see them engaging so positively with the younger learners and bringing the spirit of World Book Day to life across our local community.

A huge well done to everyone involved for making this such a successful and inspiring celebration of reading. Experiences like these highlight the importance of reading for pleasure and the positive impact our students can have beyond the school gates.
