Senior Sports Awards Evening Celebrates Sporting Excellence
Whitchurch High School was proud to host its Senior Sports Awards Evening, celebrating the dedication, commitment and success of our senior sportsmen and women.
The evening was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the hard work, resilience and teamwork shown by students throughout the academic year. The awards highlighted not only sporting achievement, but also the values of determination, leadership and perseverance that underpin success both on and off the field.
We were delighted to welcome Elliot Kear as our guest speaker. A Welsh Rugby League international, Elliot has represented Wales on the world stage, including at multiple Rugby League World Cups, and has also captained the national side. Born in Cardiff and a former Whitchurch High School pupil, Elliot’s journey from school sport to international competition provided a truly inspiring message for our students.
Elliot spoke openly about the importance of perseverance, professionalism and making the most of opportunities, sharing experiences from his own career that strongly resonated with everyone in attendance. His return to Whitchurch High School was a proud moment for the school community and a powerful reminder of what our students can achieve.
A huge congratulations goes to all award winners, including recipients of the Player’s Player Award, an honour voted for by teammates and recognising commitment, attitude and performance. This award served as a valuable reminder that respect, teamwork and character are just as important as talent in sport.
The school would like to thank everyone involved in making the evening such a success, from staff and organisers to students and families. It was a memorable celebration of sporting excellence and school pride.
