Galactic Challenge

Students Take on the Galactic Challenge

Students from across Whitchurch High School recently took part in an exciting Galactic Challenge Day, delivered by the Space, Science and Engineering Foundation (SSEF).

Working in teams across different year groups, students were challenged to design Artemis X, a futuristic holiday resort on the Moon. Drawing on their knowledge of science, engineering, sustainability, and business, they developed innovative ideas to address the opportunities and challenges of creating a successful lunar destination.

Throughout the day, students collaborated to tackle real-world problems, considering everything from the practicalities of living on the Moon to the environmental and commercial factors involved in their proposals. Teams then presented their ideas to a judging panel, showcasing their creativity, communication skills, and ability to work effectively under pressure.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to develop key skills in leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, and public speaking, while gaining an insight into the exciting possibilities of careers in science, technology, engineering, and space exploration.

We were incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, imagination, and professionalism demonstrated by all those involved. The quality of the ideas presented was exceptional, and our students represented Whitchurch High School brilliantly throughout the challenge.

A huge thank you to the Space, Science and Engineering Foundation (SSEF) for delivering such an inspiring and engaging experience for our students.
