Year 8 Students Explore the Wonders of Physics at Cardiff University
Sixty-six enthusiastic Year 8 students attended an exciting event at Cardiff University’s School of Physics and Astronomy to celebrate British Science Week. The trip, organised by science teacher Mr. Richi, provided students with a unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge physics in a university setting.
The day began with an engaging lecture on low-temperature physics, where students learned about the fascinating properties of materials at extremely cold temperatures. This was followed by a series of hands-on workshops, including a mobile planetarium, hologram stars, infrared experiments, and Connect Physics activities.
Students were captivated by the interactive sessions, which allowed them to experience science in action and gain insights into real-world applications of physics. The event not only deepened their understanding of the subject but also inspired many to consider future studies in STEM fields.
Reflecting on the day, Mr. Richi said: "It was fantastic to see our students so engaged with the activities. The hands-on approach really brought physics to life, and the enthusiasm they showed was incredible."
The visit was a great success, offering an unforgettable experience that showcased the excitement and relevance of science in today’s world.
