Whitchurch High Rocks the Stage with Electrifying Production of School of Rock

Over four unforgettable nights, Whitchurch High School’s Lower School students brought the house down with their high-energy production of School of Rock. Playing to sold-out audiences each evening, the cast of students lit up the stage with their talent, enthusiasm, and rock ‘n’ roll spirit.

The show followed the antics of wannabe rock star Dewey Finn—played with extraordinary flair by Year 9 student Harvey Marshall—who impersonates a substitute teacher and transforms a class of straight-A students into a mind-blowing rock band. Harvey’s performance was nothing short of outstanding, earning standing ovations and high praise for his charisma, comic timing, and powerful vocals.

Supporting him was a cast of dedicated young performers, each bringing their characters to life with confidence and energy. The band, made up entirely of students, showcasing their exceptional abilities and teamwork.

Director Miss Capstick praised the students’ hard work and creativity: “This cast gave everything they had to this show, and it’s been a joy to watch them grow in confidence and shine on stage. Their commitment and passion have been truly inspiring.”

Musical Director Mrs Cobner added: “Every note, every chord, and every harmony was performed live by our incredible students. They absolutely owned it. The musical talent in our Lower School is phenomenal.”

Headteacher Mr John said: “We are immensely proud of every student involved in School of Rock. From the cast and musicians to the backstage crew and technical team, this production showcased the very best of Whitchurch High. It was a celebration of hard work, creativity, and collaboration.”

The show has been described as one of the school’s most successful productions to date, with parents, staff, and the wider community praising the professionalism, humour, and heart delivered by this young and talented cast.

With such a high bar set by School of Rock, audiences are already eager to see what Whitchurch High will bring to the stage next year.
