European Day of Languages
Whitchurch High School has been buzzing with excitement as students and staff came together to celebrate the European Day of Languages (EDL). This annual event, marked on September 26th, promotes the linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe and encourages the importance of lifelong language learning.
Mr. John, Headteacher, expressed his enthusiasm for the event: "At Whitchurch High School, we take pride in fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and encourages students to engage with the world through language. The European Day of Languages is a fantastic opportunity for our school community to appreciate the value of languages in building intercultural understanding."
The theme for this year’s celebration, "Europeans and their Languages," was at the heart of the two-day event. The event was packed with activities aimed at promoting language learning and cultural awareness. Students participated in language-themed quizzes, interactive games, and discussions, all designed to celebrate Europe's rich linguistic heritage.
Mrs. Davies Head of faculty commented on the success of the celebration: "Our aim was to not only highlight the importance of language learning but also to inspire students to continue their language studies beyond the classroom. Language is a key to understanding different cultures, and these events help broaden students' perspectives."
