Whitchurch High School Students Excel at 2025 CyberFirst Girls Competition
Four talented Year 8 students from Whitchurch High School Lucy, Connie, Ava, and Millie proudly represented the school at the 2025 CyberFirst Girls Competition, held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Newport. This prestigious event, organised by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), is designed to inspire young girls to consider careers in cyber security through engaging, problem-solving challenges.
The girls showcased exceptional teamwork and problem-solving skills as they tackled a series of tasks ranging from code-breaking and digital forensics to cryptography and logic puzzles. This years competition saw a record-breaking number of participants, with over 14,500 girls from across the UK taking part, reflecting the growing interest in the cyber security field.
Following the competition, Lucy, Connie, Ava, and Millie also participated in the Resilient Futures: Women in Cyber 2025 conference, which took place at the same venue. This event featured inspiring keynote speakers, panel discussions, and workshops focused on promoting diversity and inclusion in the cyber security sector. The girls had the opportunity to network with industry professionals, gain valuable insights into potential career paths, and develop a deeper understanding of the role women play in shaping the future of technology.
