Shwmae Su’mae Day

 

Whitchurch High School was alive with the sounds of the Welsh language today as students and staff came together to celebrate Shwmae Su’mae Day. The event aimed at promoting the Welsh language and culture brought a wave of enthusiasm throughout the school.

Throughout the day, students initiated conversations with a friendly "Shwmae," a Welsh greeting that invites people to say "Su’mae" in return. It was heartwarming to see these exchanges becoming the norm in the school's corridors.

To immerse themselves in Welsh traditions, students engaged in various Welsh games and had the opportunity to savor delicious Welsh foods in the Dutch barn. It was a taste of the vibrant Welsh culture right in the heart of Whitchurch High School.
