Senior Sports Dinner

Whitchurch High School held its 20th anniversary annual senior sports dinner at Whitchurch Sports and Social club and had the privilege of welcoming back alumnus Kate Seary, a renowned Welsh International athlete.

Kate’s athletic journey is nothing short of remarkable. As a Welsh International, she has not only represented her country but has also excelled on the track, holding the title of Wales 1500m champion and even securing the Welsh record for steeplechase. Her achievements in the sporting arena speak volumes about her dedication and talent.

Beyond her athletic endeavours, Kate is also the Director and Co-Founder of Kyniska Advocacy, a women's sport organisation committed to influencing structural policy changes to support, respect, and celebrate women athletes. Her commitment to advancing the rights and opportunities for women in sports is truly inspiring and aligns perfectly with the values we uphold at our school.

During the event, players' player awards were presented to each team, recognising the outstanding contributions and sportsmanship displayed by our student-athletes across various disciplines. Additionally, special recognition was given to our Welsh international players, highlighting their achievements on the national stage.

Speeches were delivered by team captains, reflecting on the season's highlights, and expressing gratitude for the support and camaraderie within their respective teams. However, it was Kate’s speech that left a lasting impression on everyone present. Her words were not only motivational but also served as a reminder of the power of perseverance, determination, and advocacy in the world of sports.

The senior sports dinner was not just a celebration of athletic prowess but also a testament to the sense of community and shared values that define Whitchurch High School. As we continue to nurture and support our student-athletes, we are honoured to have role models like Kate who exemplify excellence both on and off the field.
