Seren Network Launch

Over 60 of our Year 12s were invited to be part of the Seren Academy and to attend the Cardiff Seren Network launch event in Cardiff City Hall. Year 12 students across Cardiff were invited to the event based on their excellent academic attainment at GCSE (minimum 6 A*s including Maths and English).

The University Market kicked off from 4.30pm in the Lower Hall, with opportunities for students to discuss courses, applications, funding, aptitude testing etc. to be discussed with selective Universities including Oxford University, Cardiff University, Bath University, Reading University, Exeter University, Swansea University and Bristol University.

Additionally, Local Business Partners were available to discuss graduate programmes, apprenticeships, degreee apprenticeships, higher degree apprenticeships, internships, work experience programmes, traineeships, pre-employment opportunities and careers information such as Blake Morgan, Renishaw, PwC, Cardiff and Vale Health Board (NHS), Grant Thornton, Balfour Beatty, Big Ideas Wales, Civil Service, The St. David's Hotel, The British Army and Elevate Mentoring

From 6pm, the launch event and welcomes took place in the magnificent Assembly Hall with a welcome address from the Assistant Diector of Education, Mr Mike Tate, and Mr Ken Poole, Head of Economic Development and the Cardiff Seren Network leads. Up next was Mr Harry Twohig with an introduction to Oxbridge, and then a pupil presentation on their Seren Experience to date from Farzana Alam and Raisa Sarkar. Finally, the University market place re-opened to our students and parents.
