To meet with legal requirements all students have one hour a week of Religious Education. In this hour a short course in Religion and Philosophical Themes is delivered which includes subject matter such as key religious beliefs and practices from Christianity and Buddhism.
Students will also consider religious and non-religious views on Philosophical themes such as the Origins of the Universe, the Sanctity of Life and Life after Death.
Each pupil will have the opportunity to achieve a GCSE short course qualification from A* to G. This is the equivalent of all other GCSE qualifications and will be a useful extra subject grade to take students either into the Sixth Form (five A*-C grades needed) or employment.
Students opting to take the Philosophy and Ethics will have alternatives offered during this hour.
